This makes such perfect sense . . . in the holistic
world!
(Holistic = "emphasizing the interdependence of parts")
Bacteria in our mouth that attach to plaque on our teeth can
affect our heart. A recent study says it can even cause a
heart attack. This came out of the American Association for
the Advancement of Science.
What happens is certain bacteria cause the platelets to
clump which can cause a clot that could lead to a heart
attack. The bacteria involved are:
- Streptococcus sanguis (S. sanguis)
- Porphyromonas gingivalis (P. gingivalis)
These bacteria are usually found in diseased gums.
The testing was done on rabbits (oh well - animal testing
once again). They injected these bacteria and found that
there was platelet clotting, faster heart rate, and changes
in EKG's.
I don't believe in animal testing. And I do believe in
getting information like this out to people OTHER than
through dentists!
Physicians and cardiologists should not only be sharing this
information but they should be examining patients' mouths
and taking dental histories to bring this aspect of care
into play.
Once again I feel safely armed with something that is so
effective and helpful for prevention and treatment of
serious bacterial problems in my mouth - and that is using
the
Thieves toothpaste and the mouthwash from Young Living.
The best thing about the action of these essential oil
products is that they are effective against the "bad bugs"
but respect the ecological terrain that needs to be present.
And they are not caustic to the mucous membranes.
I don't care if I sound like I'm trying to promote this
product because of my affiliation with Young Living or not.
The truth is these mouth care products are by far the best
thing we have got going for good SAFE and effective mouth
care.
Essential oils are so effective in the health of the
mouth and gums. Besides my own personal positive experiences
with the toothpaste and the mouthwash, I have heard so many
people speak of serious improvements in their mouth health
because of switching over to Thieves.
I used to use Tom's of Maine thinking I was getting the best
natural toothpaste until I realized it had Sodium Laurel
Sulfate in it. And since Colgate bought them I don't think
they are going to change that anytime soon.
